Islando Bocock
Islando grew up in the Puget Sound of Washington state. As world traveler, he began working as a musical performer in 1998. In 1999 he began to pursue visual performance as a profession by traveling and performing contact improvisational dance in North America (USA and Canada). In 2000 he began teaching contact improvisation workshops at festivals and in cities up and down the west coast of North America and as Far East as Montana. These festivals were full of performers of all types and it was then that he began to experiment with fire dancing, capoeira (a Brazilian acrobatic dance/martial art), stunt work, and many other innovative performance aspirations.
Islando has studied with Luana, (circus piccolino, Brazil), Meistre Boca do Rio (Brazil), The Gemini twins (cirque du soliel, nimble arts), Alessandra Olgen (wise fools circus), Bill Forcion (new pickle family circus), Kieth Hennessy (cirque zero), Cyrus (Firefly aerial dance), Humanicorp (Mexico City), and the San Franscisco Circus Center.
Islando has dedicated his life to bringing fresh ideas and inspiration to the performing arts while incorporating cultural influences from around the world. It is his passion as a performer to always look for new opportunities to train and enhance his performance skills and experience.
